Description:
This is an OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer. Sold individually. This no grease mandrel assembly includes housing, shaft assembly, bearing, and nut only - pulley/washer and blade bolt/washers are not included.

This is the part the mower blade attaches to, it is mounted to the deck of the mower by four bolts.

Spacer must be installed under the pulley.
Installing with the spacer on top of the pulley (or failing to use spacer) will result in damage to shaft and pulley.

The mounting holes on the Mandrel are not threaded. But the bolts that are used to secure the mandrel to the deck are self tapping. The Mandrel shaft goes thru the deck and the pulleys are attached to them, then the belt that drives the mandrels is placed in the pulleys.

The original mandrel assembly cracked badly around the screws that hold it to the deck, and the brake arm was bent and no longer contacting the pulley
Once the mower deck was removed the repair was simple. Remove nut on top of mandrel holding the pulley wheel in place and remove wheel. Remove screws holding the old mandrel assembly to the deck, make note of where the belt guides are, and remove old mandrel (blade still attached and must remove by pulling the mandrel down through the deck). Remove nut holding blade on and remove blade. Take the mandrel screws and use them to cut threads into the screw holes of the new mandrel (the holes in the new mandrel are not pre-threaded). Put new mandrel in place, replace belt guides in their proper positions, line up the holes and replace the screws and tighten firmly. The brake pad is self explanatory: remove nut and take off old brake, put new brake on and replace nut.

I hit my water meter and bent the deck a little. I was able to straighten the deck and when I turned the blades back on, the left pulley started smoking and it felt like the deck was vibrating apart.
I removed my deck, found that the left blades was a little harder to turn and made a roaring noise when spinning it. I removed the top pulley and then the blade. Next I removed the spindle ( mandrel ). The fall bearings had came out of the top bearing. Also the bottom bearing was bad as well. I ordered my spindle or mandrel from eReplacementparts.com and when it came in I replaced it and my blades...which it is a good time to do since the deck was already off. Reinstalled the deck and was back in business.
Thank you eReplacementparts.com

This was on my 46 inch cut Husqvarna riding mower.
Make sure to remove spark plug wire before starting any work on or near the blades.

Mower made metal on metal noise and stopped running.
The mandrel broke in two places, and also the deck ripped out at the mandrel mounting position bolt holes. Removing the blade and mandrel was fairly easy since I have done this previously. This model of Husqvarna allows for very easy removal of deck assembly from mower. What took the bulk of time was taking deck to welder to make repairs to the damaged mounting holes on deck. He used metal washers then scraped and painted to match original deck. Once I picked up deck re-attaching every thing else was done within 20-25 minutes. Mower now sounds quiet and runs & cuts maybe better now then when it was new. So the lesson here is when an unusual noise starts don't hesitate investigating before continuing to operate mower.

Had damaged the blades and busted the mandrel assembly. Also, had stripped the teeth on the mandrel pulley,
I removed the deck completely from the craftsman lawn tractor. Removed all damaged parts from the mower deck with the necessary tools making sure to take a cell phone picture prior to disassembly. FYI, I did not realize the mandrel assembly was not threaded at the 4 points where you attach the mandrel to the deck with the washer head screws. Don't panic though, because the washer head screws self-thread into the mandrel assembly making for a very firm attachment. This project was a little more time consuming because the old mandrel assembly had sheared off at 3 points and the broken pieces under the washer head screws were troublesome to remove. Liquid wrench helped with the removal though. FYI, make sure you don't forget to put the spacer on top of the mandrel before you attach the pulley to the top of the mandrel. All new parts went together very nicely on re-assembly. I re-attached the deck to the Lawn tractor. I started the mower and it worked flawlessly.

Question: Mandrel Assembly

1554751

will this fit on a husqvarna from lowes i bought in 2011
Hello It may. Check the model number of your lawn tractor AGAINST all of the 150 or more compatible models that can use this part. The list of compatible models is listed BELOW the photo of the part here; since we do NOT know the model of your 2011 machine.

http://www.ereplacementparts.com/mandrel-assembly-p-641933.html
It should. I purchased my Husqy LGT2654 from Lowe's back in 2011 WITH a 4 year extended warranty. Good luck with that. When the transaxle gave out in 2015, I took it to an ACTUAL AUTHORIZED HUSQY Dealership. Thing is, under LOWE'S designation of AUTHORIZED, it means a mom and pop back alley repair garage that may or may not know what they are doing. Anyway, after arguing with Lowe's about the repair shop used, I paid the $1346 bill and they paid me back. New transaxle went kaput 4 months later, so I upgraded to a beefier unit through a 3rd party vendor which also made me convert the rider from hand directional control to foot control. At the same time, while the tractor was apart in my garage (this time I did all the repairs and conversion work), I tore the deck apart and replaced all of it's mandrels from eReplacements. These 3 bolt mandrels WILL work on the majority of the Husqy decks. The only thing that I don't care for is that they are not greaseable which would greatly add to its longevity. They're not hard to replace if you take your time to learn how it comes apart and goes back together again. If you can assemble a kids bike on Xmas morning, this should be a breeze.
My reply should read "4" bolt instead of "3" bolt. Sorry for the typo
Question: Mandril Removal From Housing

martilad57

The mounting brackets for the mandril housing have broken. I bought a new one thinking it would be easy to replace, but I can't figure out how to remove the mandril from the housing. Any tips?
WJA
Hello martilad57,

The 532187281 Housing Mandrel is usually easily removed by removing the 4 532173984 Self Threading Washer Head Screws from the top of the 532418227 Mower Housing. You will have to remove the 532400234 Nut-Toplock-Flanged and 532195945 Mandrel Pulley from the 532192872 Shaft And Bearing Assembly. Before you can access the screws.

-WJA
I have the same problem, I think
I've removed the assembly, by taking off the pulley and removing the bolts. I just need to replace the housing, but how do I slip the housing off the stuff it's "housing": the shaft & Bearing assembly (532192872) and the Bearing-Ball-Mandrel (532110485)?
WJA
Hello therealex,

By inspecting the complete 532192870 Mandrel Assembly. I don't see any retaining rings holding the 532192872 Shaft And Bearing Assembly in the 532187281 Mandrel Housing. If you have access to an arbor press, you would be able to press the shaft out of the housing from the top of the shaft that has the threads and splines showing. Be careful not to damage the mandrel housing as it is made out of pot metal. Note: For a few dollars more you should consider ordering the complete Mandrel Assembly, then you would be ready to go in a little less time.
