Questions & Answers for Screw-hex Wash Sf

My snow blower is leaking gas it seems to be by the drain under the carberator
Jim for model number 31AM5BTR709 asked on 2023-03-28
Hi Jim, Thank you for your question. If the carburetor is cracked or if the float on the carburetor is open, gasoline will leak from it. You will need to inspect the carburetor for signs of damage and wear. If the carburetor is fine, you will need to check the float to see if it is open. If it is, try cleaning it. If this does not help repair or replace it. If you have any questions, please let us know. We look forward to hearing from you!

Engine vibrate very badly on the platform. Is there a engine bolt missing?
EDSEL for model number 136E450F000 asked on 2023-03-01
Hi Edsel, Thank you for your question. If your engine is vibrating badly, the issue may be with the blade or the crankshaft. If it is the blade, it may be damaged or out of balance. The vibration is a result of uneven weight distribution at either end of the blade while it spins. This can be caused by a damaged blade, or one that has been sharpened incorrectly and is out of balance. If your mower is vibrating excessively, inspect the blade for damage and test for balance. If the crankshaft is bent, it will cause excessive vibration when the mower is running. If the mower strikes something the crankshaft may become bent. Inspect these parts and once you have determined the part you need, please call customer service. We look forward to hearing from you!

1.Removed the belt cover using my neighbors socket wrench set because the bolts were recessed.
    2. Removed the old belt which was damaged.
    3. Removed the clutch arm in order to put the new belt on.
    4. Replaced the clutch arm and the missing hex nut.
    5. Ran the snow blower without the belt cover.
    6. Replaced the belt cover.
    7. Started the snow blower and the belt was knocked off
    8. Removed the belt cover to find out why the belt was was knocked off. Thought it was the clutch because it wasn't engaging the center of the belt and thus throwing the belt off.
    9. I removed the clutch arm again to try to realign it and make it tighter. In so doing the bolt stripped the threads in the chassis.
    10. I was able to find an equivalent bolt that fit the clutch arm and reattached it using the new bolt and nut.
    11. Still the belt kept coming off.
    12. Finally I looked inside the cover and found that there is a ledge which supports the belt. What was happening is that in replacing the cover, at least 8 times, the ledge was pushing agains the belt and thus when the the blower was started the belt was thrown off.
    13. In replacing the cover I had to make sure that the belt was riding above this ledge.
    14. Now it works.
    15. In the process I damaged the new belt. So I am using the old belt and will probably find the equivalent new belt at a dealer such as Home Depot.
