Followed the instructions exactly as stated and had no problems.
Snap ring pliers and a small bearing puller are a must. I found cheap ones at Harbor Freight which worked fine.
Accidentally dropped a small washer into my router. Took it apart, found both bearings needed replacing.

Had to buy some tools I did not have. Snap ring pliers come in inside and outside versions, pay attention, don't grab the wrong one like I did. The smallest puller I could find to remove the bearing did not quite fit and I had to regrind the jaws so that they could slide under the bearing.
DIY is always an adventure but I saved my router.
