This is an authentic Briggs & Stratton part that has been OEM sourced to ensure a high level of quality. The ring set is intended to be used with small engines. Piston rings are used to form a seal between the piston and the cylinder wall. The seal separates the crankcase and the combustion chamber. If the ring becomes damaged the seal will be broken and will result in a loss of compression. The piston rings are sold in a complete set.

Parts Used
Pulled the motor,broke it down and found bad piston rings that was letting oil by. Installed new rings, lapped the valves in and put it back together. Started motor , buttoned everything up and called customer and told him to bring money!

Parts Used
Remove engine from lawn mower, remove cycl. head , remove oil sump , remove piston and rod assembly , clean and hone cycl , remove old rings and clean piston , install new rings and reinstall piston and rod back in engine using ring compressor tool , replace all parts using new gaskets , also do not forget to replace oil seal in sump , torque all bolts to proper specs , readjust valves to proper specs ,reinstall engine on mower , fill with oil and start engine , check for oil leaks if all is good go mow yard , hope this helps.
