Clamshell handle was shattered and cord protector boot was cracked and split
I took the new parts and compared them with the old to ensure that they were a match. The new handle and cord protector were an exact match. Using my cordless drill with assorted exchangeable bit set I removed all the torx screws from the Handel being careful to notice the size and location of each screw. There were three different sizes of torx screws at various locations. After removing all the old remnants of the handle I carefully removed screws holding the wiring in place to the switch in the handle along with one wire nut. Due to the wiring being formed into position by the constraints of the handle with care all one can remove old boot and slide on new boot. After replacing wire nut and switch screws. Carefully replace wiring to its formed position in the new handle and carefully slide lower half of new handle into position on saw. Slide upper half of new handle into position and press together. Replace all screws into their proper locations being careful to not over torque when tightening as screws self tap into plastic and can strip easily. Enjoy your revitalized saw.

the cord was old so was cracked exposing the inside wires
I took the screws out with a power drill which then left the handle split apart. Before and during pulling out the cord and detaching it I took several pictures with my Ipad to help show how it looked before and after taking apart. This really help 2 weeks later in remembering how to reassemble the wire into the handle of the Dewalt circular saw.

MY older B & D circular saw needed a power cord & protector replaced.
1. Removed handle, took a pic prior to starting, disconnecting all wires.
2. Slid protector into place, measured & cut necessary wires to follow the original path & length needed.
3. Added proper size wire connectors and reinstalled everything to look the same way before I started.
4. Put handle back and most importantly....... tested.

Peace to you all

Screwdriver, Wire stripper, crimp tool, ring lug
Strain relief was broken and cord had multiple frayed areas.
1. Remove screws from side of handle. Note there are two screws that are longer for replacing in the correct position.
2. Remove worn strain relief and power cord. Note which wire goes to the switch using the crimped ring lug
and which is neutral going to the wire nut.
3. Thread on the new strain relief onto the new cord with the large "lug" toward the open wire end of the cord.
4. Using the old cord as a guide, cut the wires on their new cord to march the offset length of the old cord.
5. Strip the insulation off both wires. Crimp the new ring lug onto the wire going to the switch. Using the same screw you removed from the switch, attach the new wire to the switch and the wire nut to the other wire that was removed earlier.
6. Reposition the wires in the location in the handle carefully as they were when taking the handle apart.
7. Join the two parts of the handle together being careful not to pinch any wires between the sections.
8. Replace the screws , keeping track of where the two longer screws were positioned. Tighten the screws and enjoy many more years from your repaired cord and strain relief on your Dewalt circular saw.
