This magneto, also known as an ignition coil, is a genuine OEM replacement part used in outdoor power equipment. It generates the spark that ignites the air and fuel mixture in the engine combustion chamber and allows it to run. Over time, the magneto may need to be replaced due to a worn-out wire coil, damage to the spark plug wire, or incorrect gaping between the magneto and flywheel. A faulty magneto will result in misfiring, hard starting, and low equipment performance. Begin by removing the spark plug for your safety and removing the motor housing to access the flywheel. Take note of how the wiring is routed before unthreading/unclipping the fasteners that hold the magneto in place. Pull out the faulty part and position the new magneto in its place. Set the correct gap between the magneto and flywheel using a feeler gauge. It is important to set the correct size as a gap that is too narrow or too wide will prevent the engine from starting or running smoothly. Reconnect the wiring using your notes and secure the new magneto in place with the appropriate fasteners.
