Putting the plastic hose on the metal air pump cap was difficult
Put the housing in a vise and gently heat it up. The temperature was under 200F but I could not determine the exact temperature. Once it is heated up push the plastic hose over the air pump cap. It popped right on after heating it. Let the metal cool before putting it on the scroll saw.

The nozzle would not go on the air knob
I carefully heated the end of the nozzle with one lit match. This created enough flexibility in the nozzle so that it easily pushed on the knob.

Old nozzle broke in several parts over the years
Part is not going to snap on as expected,Very brittle and cracks easily.Best way to approach it is to use a heat gun to soften the plastic and nudge it on carefully

Air Hose broke...Speed control knob broken
Removed old knob & replaced with new.
Tried hair dryer to heat up hose end so it would slide over the air knob...Not good. Boiled water and let the end of new hose soak for about 5 minutes. Slipped hose over air knob.
Hair dryer doesn't get hot enough to soften the plastic.

DeWalt DW788 air nozzle was not on the machine
Ordered and received replacement from ereplacementparts dot com-- quick shipping and delivery of the correct part that I selected from the website's exploded parts view and parts list. Difficulty is that the inside diameter of the black plastic female link has to slide over the larger round metal ball-shaped nipple where the air comes out, and the ID of the link is smaller. How to install, is the Q. Online search suggested heating the female end by soaking in hot water-- this did not work at all for me. Further searching, one person suggested this method, which did work quickly and easily: Remove on last link of black plastic from the multi-link air nozzle. You now have a single-link. Carefully place the female part of the single-link against the round metal nipple (the male part attached to the DeWalt). Hold in place then strike the black plastic piece using a rubber mallet. I started with a gentle tap then progressed with harder taps until the female slipped over the largest part of the ball-shaped. Then work the rest of the hose onto the single-link, and you are done!

a piece of wood fell on it the air hose and broke it.
First I just tried forcing the new one on the scroll saw. That didn't work.
I took my heat gun and heated the end for about 15 seconds and then the hose just popped on.

Air nozzle broke off from the air pump cap
Removed blade from the saw , tipped assembly back and braced it, removed the air pump cap by removing two torx screws holding the cap.
Installed the new air pump cap, then GENTLY heated the air nozzle end, so it would snap back onto the air pump cap fitting. Allowed the assemble to cool, reinstall a new blade and then ready to go again.

Question: Attaching Replacement Air Nozzle
JiminFla
I purchased a replaement air nozzle for my DeWalt scroll saw, but it appears that another part is needed to attach it. There is a ball socket-like piece on the saw and the replacement nozzle is too small to fit over it.
My wife figured it out. With a hair dryer, heat the metal ball on the saw and the open end of the hose while working the hose on to the ball starting with the rim and rotating it on. Wear heat resistant gloves.

Speedy shipping. The hose fits perfectly but I had to order a special tool to install it. This should be mentioned in future orders to help customers ovoid skinned fingers and joints trying to attach it.

Air nozzle replacement
Nozzle was easy to put on after I use a heat gun to warm the plastic up so it was flexible and it slipped over the outlet on my scroll saw

Difficult to install.
the YouTube video was misleading on the ease of installation I did not have enough strength myself l had to enlist my son who couldn't do it either we read on other people's comments and they heated it then it went on. It is a quality part but the installation instructions lacked candor.
