After noticing the thumb screw at a slight angle I replaced chuck , for the 3rd time, thumb screw and set screw fixing the problem of blades popping off or losing tension. The problem seems to be the chuck being made from cast aluminum when it should be made from steel to last longer, or at least a steel thread insert

First I did an inspection to see what the current parts looked like and if I could fix them locally. I had watched many videos on YouTube about repair and maintenance of the DeWalt scroll saw so I know what to do. After having more issues than necessary and lots of projects to cut I ordered all the parts. The replacement was straight forward and took little time.
The exploded parts list on the web site was very helpful. On reassembly I did get one plastic washer backwards but after looking at the parts list is was a east and quick fix.
