Mower does not move. Drive belt smokes at engine pulley when engaged. Double pulley #83 (656-04015) will not turn by hand. Could this be the problem?
Frank for model number 13AX10CG709 asked on 2023-04-01
Hello Frank, thank you for your question. We recommend replacing the belt 954-04045 first. Next, check over the Spindle assembly 918-04456A to see if shows wear, debris, or signs of it corrosion as some factor must be making it stick. We are pleased to have been able to help.

I actually had the helpful use of a neighbor who works on small engines help me with it as of my age I could not get down and crawl around underneath to do all this work he did it pretty easily but it was hard for him. It took him close to 3 hours to take everything apart and put it back together. Taking off the mower deck and pulleys loosening the adjustment arm and spring for the variable speed. And then putting everything back together it's a time process for sure.

Removed and took apart old assembly that had seized together . Replaced new bearings and new vari- pulley assembly and now it runs like new. The parts fit as they should except for the tension spring but I may have ordered the wrong part for the tension spring
