I took the side panel off of the planner in order to get to the drive belt pulleys. I then made sure that all of the old belt was off of the pulleys. I loosened the adjusting (tension) bolt on the motor which allowed one of the pulleys to move. I then placed the new drive belt on the two pulleys then lifted the motor to re-apply tension to the drive belt and tightened the bolt. Replaced the side panel, plugged the planner in, turned it on and it worked great.

The drive belt is behind the right side cover. You will have to remove the cover to get to the belt. Once in there pull out what is left of the old belt. I also used a vacuum to clean up the worn rubber and saw dust in there. Then work the new belt over the two pulleys. Put the side cover back on and it is ready.

Always unplug a power tool before working on it. Raise the cutterhead halfway. Remove the belt guard on right side -a plastic lump held on by a couple screws. Remove the blade guard/shaving chute. Loosen the belt tensioner lock bolt next to the motor drive pulley. I worked the belt thru the upper opening revealed when the guard was removed and rolled the belt onto the cutterhead pulley. Make sure the pulleys are fully covered by the belt with nothing hanging off. Insert a large screwdriver or flat bar between the motor and the frame, pry to tighten the belt and while holding the tension, tighten the tension lock bolt. Reassemble and plane away...
