    blade adapter
Ordered the part on 23 March, shipped the same day. However, it took Fed Ex until 7 April to get it. Contacted Fed Ex cs website delay was due to damaged shipping label. Made it to Grove City Oh then shipped to Clinton Pa. Reason for delay...weather. (Grove City is in Ohio south of Newton Falls.) As far as I know, there was no catachismic weather disaster, the airports were not closed and I 71, I 77 and I 75 were intact. Just an FYI.

Remove the blade bolt and the two washers, then remove the blade. Remove the old adapter. I had to use penetrating oil and let it sit for a while. Then I could pull it off. Clean the engine shaft. Then line up the key in the adapter with the slot on the engine shaft and tap the adapter on. I then put a sharpened blade that I already had, on the adapter followed by the washers and blade bolt.

Adapter for blade on shaft was stripped. The grooves that hold the blade in place had worn off and blade was turning freely.

Socket set, Claw hammer to ply adapter from shaft very carefully.

I removed blade using 9/16 socket. I then placed a piece of plywood on the deck side of the mower from underneath while the lawn mower was upside down. I had previously removed the oil and gas just because it was time for an oil change. The plywood in place next to the shaft I used the claw hammer to pull the adapter from the shaft. Put new adapter on and tapped with wood mallet. Bolted down tight with new blade.

After cleaning the underside of the Deck, I installed Adapter which had a pulley for the Belt . Holding the Blade being sure it was seated in place, I tightened the Bolt.
The whole job would have taken no more then 3 minutes if I didnt need to clean out the under side of the Deck.

    3. Remove belt from adapter
    4. Slide new adapter on making sure belt is positioned correctly. I had to remove the blade and reposition the adapter and belt a few times because the belt did not get positioned within the guards correctly and the wheel drive would not engage.

    1. Remove gas from tank.
    2. Tip mower onto side with gas cap down.
    3. Remove blade bolt with 9/16 socket wrench and remove bolt and blade..
4.Tap adapter with rubber hammer until loose.
    5. Slide adapter down engine shaft until you can remove self-propel belt off pulley on adapter. Might have to use screwdriver to get belt started off pulley then it's comes off easy once it's past the guides on the bottom of the mower.
    6. Reverse procedure. Slide new adapter onto engine shaft. I put a little WD-40 on shaft first. It only goes on one way on the shaft.
    7. Put drive belt back on making sure adapter is all the way up on engine shaft and drive belt is in pulley groove and under belt guides on mower.
    8. Install blade onto star shape on adapter and hold in place as you install blade bolt with flat washer and lock washer. Tighten to spec with socket wrench.
    9. Put some gas in the gas tank and send your girlfriend back out to mow! ;-)
