Product Description ?

This valve a genuine Kohler part which is designed for use with faucets. The purpose of this component is to control the water flow. Over time it may wear out eventually causing leaks. This is an identical replacement for a missing or a faulty component that was installed on a new unit. The valve has a durable plastic body and is sold as an individual component.     leaking out the top

    Turn off the water to both hot and cold. Remove the handle, after spraying with penetrating oil,carefully remove the decorative collar, remove the lock down nut that holds the valve cartridge. Remove old cartridge. Remove any standing water in the faucet body.
    Be sure to clean everything thoroughly and apply silicon grease to all threaded surfaces. Be sure to remove any buildup of scale where the cartridge gasket contacts the faucet. Make sure NOT to leave any scratches in the brass. Apply a thin film of silicone grease on the gasket and insert the new cartridge aligning the two locators in the brass body.
    Replace the lock down nut and tighten snugly. DO NOT over tighten. Turn on the water and check for leaks. Be sure to remove the aireator when you test the faucet or it could get clogged. Run the water for a minute or two going back and forth between hot and cold. If all is well, reinstall the decorative collar and handle. Your done.

    0) Turn off water
    1) Remove handle with allen key
    2) Remove valve stem with #2 phillips along with bonnet assembly
    3) Remove valve retainer nut with adjustable wrench
    4) Replaced in reverse order.

    The strap wrench was needed to twist off the bonnet while avoiding rotation of faucet body. The cut-away diagram was very helpful. Vaseline petroleum jelly used on all treaded areas.
