Questions & Answers for Spool Housing

Replaced spool, housing and ratchet level. My problem is that the line indexes at full speed an chops all the line on the spool into 2 to 3 inch pieces. How to slow the feed rate down without buying a new trimmer?
Mark for model number GH30000 asked on 2023-04-14
Hi Mark, Thank you for your question. If the trimmer line is coming out too fast, we would recommend checking the cap first. The cap allows you to feed more line when you tap it on the ground. If the cap is broken or worn out over time, it can malfunction, causing too much line to feed out when you bump it. Depending on the damage, it could be getting hung up as it tries to return, allowing the line to continuously advance. We hope this helps!

Screw won't turn. Can I use a penetrating Spray to loosen? Otherwise how do I remove Spool Housing PN:90589746
Richard for model number GH700 asked on 2022-08-03
Hi Richard, Thank you for your question. If the screw will not budge, penetrating spray can help. Use WD-40. We have included a link to one of our YouTube videos that you may reference on how to remove and install the spool/trimmer head, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQauZqaEBUI. The trimmers shown in the video may appear different from yours, but it will give you a general idea on how to install the part. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!

    1. Removed compression bolt and screw from end of drive shaft, and pulled end out to expose connection point between drive shaft and spool housing.
    2. Using adjustable wrench to hold one end of broken spool shaft, used pliers to loosen and completely unscrew the assembly from the drive shaft. This step is greasy.
    3. Removed old broken spool housing and inserted new one.
    4. Screwed new spool housing in place and tightened using wrench/pliers
    5. Re-seated drive shaft end into place and replaced compression bolt and screw.
    6. Good as new.

    pretty easy.
I would suggest taking a photo of the alignment of the sliding shaft parts as they move around,
so pay attention or get an enlargement of the parts breakdown.
There are two parts connected to the drive cable that could be more secure, so pay attention when taking the top section of the housing off.
