Clutch dog broke on original cap assembly. Weakest part on the entire trimmer, but it still lasted for a lot of work.

Inserted new spool into the new cap and snapped it onto the trimmer. I bought two cap assemblies, so I loaded my old spool into the second one and have it ready for a quick change when the spool runs out. When reloading spools, heat the trimmer line in hot water to soften it a bit, then wind it onto the spool right out of the hot water. It will stay tighter on the spool and feed more reliably.

It was a snap on job and quite easy. Remove the cap by pressing on the side tabs in the spool housing. Then line up the tabs on the new cap with the slots in the spool housing , then just snap it in. The string trimmer is working well again and I've cleared lots of tall grass that was becoming a fire hazard around here.
