The rod rides is attached to the camshaft to push the exhaust valve open during the exhaust stroke. A bent pushrod can not only affect your engine's performance, but it can also seriously damage other parts if the problem is not taken care of immediately. Please note this metal push rod is sold individually.

    Screwdriver, Socket set, Wrench Set, Parachute rope...keep valve in place in cylinder

    Removed spark plug, turned engine to compression cycle(bottom of stroke), inserted parachute rope, compressed rope at top of cylinder. Valve cover removed, compress exhaust valve spring, removed valve keepers removed valve spring. Removed damaged oil seal and replaced. reassembled, replaced valve push rods, set valve tolerances. reversed cylinder to remove rope. Engine repair a success.

    Rocker arm bracket came loose, and ended up bending a push rod.

    Socket set, Feeler gauge, 10mm socket, brake cleaner

    Clean up everything, lube up the push and install the new push rod, adjust the push rod gap, install new valve cover gasket.

    Bent push rod

    Socket set, Torque wrench, feeler gauge

    No compression in #1. Removed rocker arm cover. Removed old push rod. Removed rocker arm. Installed new push rod (which is substantially thicker and well built). Put assembly lube on ends. Installed rocker arm. Locate TDC. Set valve clearance .05mm—.076mm. Torqued to 11.6 n-m. Spun flywheel thru by hand. Rechecked. New gasket on Rocker arm cover. Torqued cover down. Started engine. Checked RPM. Happy Happy Happy.
