Product Description ?

This is a genuine manufacturer approved replacement drive shaft that is designed for string trimmers. Flexible drive shaft fits inside the drive shaft housing to spin the cutting head. It is made out of metal and it is sold individually.

To complete this repair you would need a screwdriver and pliers.

Removing the Drive Shaft:

• Loosen the shaft screws.
• Remove the air filter.
• Remove the throttle cable.
• Remove the ignition wires.
• Remove the shaft housing.
• Remove the drive shaft.

Installing the New Drive Shaft:

• Lubricate the drive shaft.
• Install the new drive shaft.
• Re-install the shaft housing.
• Re-install the throttle cable and ignition wires.
• Re-install the air filter assembly.

    Removed the lower housing with nut driver. Removed the trimmer head with screw driver. Pulled the trimmer shaft out of the housing. Slide in the new housing. Reverse assembly order.

    1 Removed the set screw from housing.
    2. Disengaged the housing from the shaft
    3. Pulled the old drive shaft from the shaft .
    4. Installed the new flexible drive shaft .
    5. Reattached the lower housing and tightened the set screw.

    The head of the trimmer broke off

    Took the head off put the new one on and inserted the drive shaft. But it didn't work bc the upper drive shaft was damaged.

    The lower fexiable driveshaft had broken

    1. Disconnect the lower shaft from the upper shaft.
    2. Took the spool head off the lower shaft.
    3.Pulled the flexible drive shaft out from the bottom, where spool head was removed.
    4. Added some grease to the lower shaft, then installed the new flexible drive shaft into the tube, from the bottom up.
    5. Replaced the the gear head and spool back onto lower shaft.
    6. Reconnected lower shaft to upper shaft and tightened connections.
    7. Done.

    LOwer drive broke and stuck in gear box

    took trimmer top/bottom half apart
    disconnected gear box and put new one on
    put in new lower drive
    tighten all screw
    done!
    parts fir perfectly ---runs like a charm.

    1. Removed screws indicated by instructions & removed lower drive shaft from screwdriver
    2. swapped broken for fixed part; applied grease to new part.
    3. re-install all screws removed by #1.

    Flexible drive shaft had shredded in the gear box

    1. Removed the connector sleeve at gear box including the middle set screws
    2. Pulled the old flexible drive shaft
    3. Installed the new flexible drive shaft
    4. Reassembled making sure the set screw is holding the flexible drive shaft in place so that it doesn’t slide up inside the lower tube.
    5. Note - clean and grease
