Product Description ?

This is an original Oster Pro part. This Hinge Assembly is used on multiple models of animal hair clippers. The Hinge is used to help hold the blades into place while in use. This part should be replaced if it has become loose and no longer holds the blade. This part is commonly replaced with the Latch (part number 044938-000-000). To replace the Hinge a Philips head or flat head screwdriver will be needed to remove the screws.

The company has been amazing. Even though the part I ordered I never received because the postal service lost it. They did a great job helping me out.

Blade assembly would not latch in. (2 speed Oster A5 Turbo clippers) broken spring and loose screws sockets.

    Screwdriver, Loctite for screw sockets

First I found that the Latch Assembly screw sockets that hold the latch in place had pulled loose from the clippers aluminum housing. This issue caused the latch from pulling tight against the clipper housing. I wiped the surface clean and took some acetone or (you can use wife's finger nail polish remover) on Q-Tips and cleaned the hole. I took some Loctite and applied it to the hole and screw sockets and let it hardened well. Okay now, I took less than 10 minutes to install the parts purchased. The Parts worked and Clipper work great.

Note: I would check the screw sockets that hold the Latch Assembly in place (they should be flush with clipper housing). This has happened to me before so it might be happen to you.

Replaced latch and hinge, now guard stays stationary while blades cut back and forth. Not sure if I needed to replace both but might as well if you have to order them and take it apart.
