This is an authentic manufacturer-approved replacement air cleaner cartridge, it is specially designed for use with Briggs and Stratton engines. Its purpose is to ensure the air that is supplied into the engine is free of dust and other harmful contaminants. Over time the filter will get dirty and clogged which can restrict the airflow resulting in the power drop, inspect the filter periodically and change it to maintain peak performance. This filter is made of high-quality pleated paper in a plastic frame and it is sold individually.

Raised the hood of mower, opened the cover on breather. There is one bolt that goes thru a small plate that holds the filters snug. Loosen the nut plate comes off with filters replace plate and tighten Put cover back on breather and close the hood. Very simple to accomplish!

I own a Briggs and Stratton Standby Generator for my home. The engine used in this generator is a 16hp Vanguard V-Twin.Yearly scheduled maintenance for this engine requires the oil and air filters be replaced. This requires the generator's lid be removed (4 X 5/16 sheet metal screws). The front cover must also be removed to gain access to the oil drain hose. Changing the oil (5-30 Mobile 1) and changing the air filter is a snap on this engine. However, the oil filter is inconveniently located at the "rear" of the engine and near the rear generator cover making it difficult to exert torque on a filter socket (wrench). Nonetheless, the filter can be loosened using a universal drive in line with an extension and ratchet wrench. I'm glad I only have to do this once a year.
