Product Information

Description:

This is a genuine manufacturer-sourced component which is specially designed for GE Dryers. The felt seal allows the drum to glide smoothly on the front panel. The most common reasons for replacing the felt seal is if it is worn, torn, or missing, causing the dryer to get too hot and the heat to escape, or the clothes get caught and torn between the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. This part is sold individually. You will need a Torx 20 screwdriver, flathead screwdriver, Phillips screw driver and pliers for this repair.

Drum was grabbing clothes and twisting them in the door.

Took out 5 screws out and got the front door loose. It swung out to the right of the dryer. The 4 slides were worn completely away. There was nothing left of them and the felt seal on the bottom of the door seal was half missing. Installed the slides and pushed the felt strip into the slot after removing what was left of the old felt seal. Put it back together and done in about 30 minutes. Easy. Nothing is getting caught and twisted anymore.

Drum wouldn't turn

1 Slid dryer away from wall and removed duct pipe and unplugged dryer
2 Removed control panel, making sure to unplug all internal connections, top of dryer and front of dryer which included door.
3 Found drive belt broke, and while I had dryer apart replaced drum slides, slide bearings, rear bearing assy., door felt, and idler pulley because I had this dryer apart before several years ago and the same parts were wore out.
4 Also replaced drive belt and cleaned all lint from blower housing and duct work, and everywhere else I found inside the dryer.
5 Putting the drum belt on was hard because you have no room for 2 arms inside and you have to route the belt around the drum, idler pulley, and motor pulley, very tricky with one arm and one hand, patience.
6 Reassembled sheet metal and ran, very quiet now
