Product Description ?

When you use a compressor the air that is compressed inside the tank will condensate and leave water inside the tank.
If it is left in the tank too long it can start to rust out the inside of the tank.

The Drain Valve should be opened up and let the water drain out.
The water will build up if you have a tendency to leave air in your tank for a long period of time.
You should drain your tank after each time it is used to prevent this from happening.

This was as easy as unscrewing the old part and screwing in the replaement.
My compressor (which sat for three years, and two wrong replacement parts) is working like a charm now, thanks to knowledge of the associate at eReplaement parts. She was soooo good, pleasant, knew and appeared to love her job and did not act as if I was being a bother.

Yes I somehow lost the complete pressure release screw valve for my Porter Cable Air Compressor. I just have a single screw that has holes in it on the end. I don't believe that is everything to the assembly as it leaks. Is there a washer or another screw that this goes in? It will screw into the body of the tank, but again it leaks. Its a 6 gal 150 PSI And 2.6SCFM @90 psi compressor. Please advise on part(s) needed and how to order. Someone borrowed it and it came back like this! Thanks!

I need a drain valve for my compressor. The serial number is 2961459226. The one you are showing looks too big in diameter. Ours is a screw with a hole in it and a o ring. Can you help me find the correct part. Thank you
Matt for model number C2002 type 5 asked on 2023-02-19
Hello Matt, Thank you for your inquiry. According to the parts list we received from Porter Cable, part# N286039 is the only drain valve listed as compatible. We show the nut as approximately 5/8 of an inch in diameter, the threaded end as approximately 1/2 inch in diameter and the other end as 3/8 of an inch in diameter. If yours does not match those dimensions, we would recommend contacting the manufacturer directly as we do not have an alternate part number listed. We hope this helps.

    Adjustable Wrench, penetrating oil

I used penetrating oil to release the original equipment drain valve from the compressor tank, as it had rusted. I sprayed several applications of the oil onto the stem threads of the compressor and allowed 10-15 minutes between treatments. I didn't want to risk damaging the threads of the stem.

It was then easy to remove the defective drain valve. I applied teflon tape to the threads of the new valve, in order to facilitate removal in the future.

The replacement valve is working good again.

The old drain valve had rusted badly and I broke off the handle. With a little persuasion I used a wrench to remove the old valve. I cleaned up the threads in the tank with a small wire brush. I applied a little Teflon tape to the new valve and threaded it in place. Works great now.
