This is an original part from MTD for use with Lawn Tractors. The blade engagement cable pulls and pivots the belt idler pulley to tighten the belt and spin the cutting blades. The most common reason for replacing the cable is if it is damaged, causing the mower blades to not engage. This part is sold individually. The tools that you will need to replace the blade engagement cable is a 3/8” socket, 1/4” socket, and pliers.

Removed belts put new ones on replaced deck engagement cable on riding lawnmower 2246 Troy bolt 2011 model use floor jack impact driver take deck off to get to transmission motor belt take your time to make sure everything goes back on right. thanks for the belts and cable all done runs real nice. Need impact driver for pulley on engine crank shaft to take off.

Parts Used
1. Lowered the deck to its lowest setting.
2. Removed the retaining clip from the cable on the deck.
3. Disconnected the spring from the pulley on the deck that engages the PTO.
4. Begin removing the cable from the deck and pulling it through the back to where it is attached for the PTO Level.
5. Removed the cable from the slot.
6. install the new cable in the reverse action due to the spring can be stretched to reattach to the pulley.
