Question: Ignition Module 593872

112pumpkin

when replacing the ignition module do the ends need to contact the wheel or is the a gap requirement between ignition module and the wheel which is faces ? Not sure what you call the wheel which spins when pulling the starter cord.
Hi 112pumpkin No, the legs should NEVER contact the flywheel. There should be an AIR-GAP of about .010" (ten-thousandths of an inch) in between the coil legs and the magnets in the flywheel. Use a standard business card as a gauge. Let the flywheel magnets pull the legs into them with the card in between them. Do this with the 2 small bolts in place and almost tight. Then, tighten down the 2 small bolts and remove the business card. Be careful tightening down the bolts. Don't go too tight and wrench the heads off of them or break them. The wheel that spins is called the FLYWHEEL and has fins on it. It has a few different purposes. IT balances the engine. It times the spark to the engine. The raised fins on it act as a fan to blow air AROUND the engine cylinder for cooling when the engine shroud (cover) is installed.

  • Right part, easy install
I wasn't sure this would fix the mower. But all I could figure out was the spark plug was NOT getting any spark. I took the chance because eReplacementParts welcomes returns. But after an easy install the mower fired right up and runs like a charm now!
