Product Description ?

This is an authentic manufacturer sourced replacement part used on Makita sanders/polishers. Switch is an important part of the tool which handles on/off operations. Because switches use mechanical internals, they will tend to wear out over time, eventually requiring replacement. It has a plastic body and it is sold individually.

To replace this switch you would need a Screwdriver.

• Remove screws used to hold two pieces of housing set together
• Disconnect wires from the old switch and remove it from the housing
• Place the new switch in the housing and connect wires to it
• Reassemble the housing

This is an older Makita variable speed buffer. Still works great, but the trigger switch went bad. The replacement was easy to order and easy to install.

I removed the screws from the switch handle, and separated it. Removed the cord clamp. I then made a wiring diagram of the switch and all parts connected to it. Installed the new switch per the diagram, replaced the cord clamp. Made sure all the internal parts were in their place. Then assembled and the handle assembly. For the brushes I removed the brush caps, then removed the worn brushes and placed the new brushes into the brush holders, then screwed the brush caps back on.

Turned out the power cable was bad, went ahead and used new parts because the tool was 18 years old, was surprised they were available, repaired the cord pulling it out of boot, then sliding it back through the boot after finding the problem, parts were fast to come, and since it was a weekend and asked for expedited shipping they gave me a partial discount! Love the graphics on website. Item I repaired was a Makita buffer. Thanks

    Tools Used

I took about the tool and changed the switch and speed control. But I found that it had the same problem. so I took out the brushes and found out one was not contacting the Stator. so I took the rest of the tool apart and cleaned the copper contact and made sure the brushes fit properly. I assembled the tool and it works great. I really don't know if I needed the switch and speed control but since I bought it I installed. Easy fix if you know a little about electric motors.
