Cogs wouldn't engage to turn engine when starter rope pulled
The rope and pulley were one piece and the cogs were another piece. If I had just replaced the cogs piece, I could have avoided dealing with the rope pulley spring. I wound the rope around the pulley, but excess rope that won't retract was an issue. I threaded a piece of string around the pulley, tied the end of the starter rope to the string and pulled the starter rope around the pulley one last time to get the tension needed for the rope to fully retract after the start pull.
