The first thing I did was google how to repair my KitchenAid model KSM5. I couldn't find anything, but I did find ereplacementparts.com video on how to repair a broken bowl arm lift. I watched it several times just to make sure I didn't miss anything. I then went to work with the parts I'd ordered. My model wasn't as difficult as the mixer in the video to take apart. Just a few bolts and I had access to the bowl arm lift. I've had this mixer for 17 years, it was a graduation gift, and I was extremely happy that I could repair it. I hope I can get another 17 years out of it.
