I just used a 1/2 in wrench unbolted the starter, disconnected the battery first then the wire to the starter, then just went back and did the reverse to install the new one it was fixed it about 15 -20 minutes and was working again, I mowed my lawn again. I'm hoping it will last for a long time, it'll save a lot from buying a new lawn tractor.
    Thanks ereplacements!

An 18 yr old mower, still in great shape.
Starter motor mounts with two bolts into crankcase. One bolt is tucked behind the starter in a difficult to reach position and very close to muffler assembly with roughly 3/8" gap between starter and crankcase. Start with this bolt, otherwise by removing the open one you'll add torque to the hidden one.
Neither an open end or box end wrench wouldn't fit but fortunately I had a 'skate key' in my tools that was thin enough to feed between the starter and bolt head.
Without that I would have chosen to grind down a box end to a thinness to fit.
e-replacement matched me up with the correct starter with the correct number of teeth on the drive gear, mount pattern.
    Thanks e-replacement.

solenoid was complicated due to location under the rear body with removal of battery and battery pan...bolts are outside the rear top of the body and you cannot see the nuts inside the body...starter is easy but you need to remove the motor cover and use a torx bit set.
