    Saw is back in action
I found that this part fit perfectly except for one tiny projection that hit one of the screw that holds the power cord. I snipped that off and the handle went together just fine. Thanks

In my haste to get home for another tool for a job, I forgot to close my tailgate. I made a U-turn at an intersection only to hear/see a large tote box flying out of the back, as well as my Dewalt circular saw. After I retrieved those items I started thinking how much a new saw was going to cost me for my dumb mistake. Closer inspection showed only the handle was damaged.
I ordered it for a very reasonable price and I had it within a few days. It took about 15 minutes to change. Just unscrew the old handle halves and piece together the new halves to assemble. Easy and so much more practical.
I'll always try to fix before I buy and these guys seem to have it all.

    , Torx bit

1- remove the Torx screws from handle set
2- pull handle apart and pull down away from depth clamp lever
3- remove power cord restraint clamp
4- remove power switch set with trigger
5- there is one more screw to remove before the other half of the handle comes loose
6- when assembling the new handle, there may be a clearance issue with a small stud that touches one of the screws that hold the cord clamp. I just nipped it off and the handle snapped right together.
7- care should be taken in reassembly, don't over-tighten the screws, they just go into plastic.

Clamshell handle was shattered and cord protector boot was cracked and split

    Bill - May 9, 2018

    Tools Used

Power Drill, Nutdriver, Torx bit set with cordless drill

I took the new parts and compared them with the old to ensure that they were a match. The new handle and cord protector were an exact match. Using my cordless drill with assorted exchangeable bit set I removed all the torx screws from the Handel being careful to notice the size and location of each screw. There were three different sizes of torx screws at various locations. After removing all the old remnants of the handle I carefully removed screws holding the wiring in place to the switch in the handle along with one wire nut. Due to the wiring being formed into position by the constraints of the handle with care all one can remove old boot and slide on new boot. After replacing wire nut and switch screws. Carefully replace wiring to its formed position in the new handle and carefully slide lower half of new handle into position on saw. Slide upper half of new handle into position and press together. Replace all screws into their proper locations being careful to not over torque when tightening as screws self tap into plastic and can strip easily. Enjoy your revitalized saw.
