Product Description ?

This replacement part is a genuine OEM sourced chain. It is specially manufactured for use with Dewalt and Black and Decker electric loopers. This part fits over the bar and it is what cuts the material. Over time chains tend to stretch and become dull requiring replacement. Please note, this metal low kick back chain is sold individually.

To replace this chain you will need a wrench.

• Make sure the unit is unplugged
• Rotate the two retention bolts counter clockwise with a wrench and remove completely.
• Remove the chain access cover
• Open the handles and pull back the top chain cover jaw
• Pull back chain bar and then lift the saw chain out of the groove in the guide bar
• The chain can then be removed from the unit
• Secure the new chain and test the tool

Questions & Answers for Chain Assembly

Most online list the replacement chain (RC600) as a 6" chain. The chain I took off my NLP1800 (B&D Alligator) measures about 10". Will this chain work for my older NLP1800 18V?
Jill for model number NLP1800 asked on 2023-04-05
Hello Jill, Thank you for your inquiry. This chain is designed to fit the six inch bar, part# N589248. If the original chain was 10 inches long, then it fit on a 10 inch bar, and this part would be too short. Sadly we do not show a 10 inch chain to fit a 10 inch bar listed. If the length of your bar is 6 inches then this part will fit. Otherwise, we would recommend checking with the manufacturer, as they would have this information in their system. Ask them for the part number you require and contact us back to see if it is something we carry. We hope this helps.

    Socket set, My hands

I took of the chain cover using a socket wrench to remove two nuts. I took off the old chain with my hands (it had already come off the sprocket) and placed the new chain with my hands. To place the chain on the drive sprocket, I pulled down on the release mechanism. After the chain was attached, I simply let go of the release mechanism. I reattached the chain cover with the two nuts using a socket wrench. Fairly simple for a small B&D "Alligator" lopper chain saw.
