How do I replace and Decker Alligator Lopper Part #8587577-00:Cover top, It will not close properly and allow the saw to cut. It is loose and not closing.

Hello Gary, Thank you for writing. The Top Cover is listed as Part Number 587577-00. Here is a repair story from a previous customer that may help. "Removed 4 motor housing screws Removed handle screws Disassembled handles Removed jaw screws Removed top cover jaw and replaced Re-placing the top cover jaw spring is tricky! Work spring down into the housing as deep as possible before twisting the straight part into its loaded position, then finish pushing it down into position." Good luck with the repair!
