Product Description ?

This genuine OEM sourced replacement part is designed for use with pressure washers. If the pressure washer runs too long with out the release of water from the sprayer, the water will heat up inside the pump. Once the water gets to a certain temperature the thermal valve will open and release the pressurized hot water, to protect the pump. If this happens too often you have a greater chance of damaging your pump. This valve consists of one (1) metal and one (1) plastic piece. To complete this repair you will need a wrench.

  • Pressure washer part
The relief valve was an inexpensive way to troubleshoot my pressure washer. The part came in quickly and was an OEM part but unfortunately wasn't the issue. They offered to have me return the part, full refund, but I decided to keep it for a spare. I chose to buy the complete pump instead...OEM unit and it works great!!

Questions & Answers for Thermal Relief Valve

After power washing about 1 minute. He engine sounds like it has a heavy load on it and will then die. If i let up on the spray the engine will keep running. When i manually put the engine in high speed it runs fine. Then when i engage the pump it pulls it down and dies. Pump bad ??
Lynn for model number 020381 asked on 2023-04-04
Hi Lynn, Thank you for your question. If your power washer runs for a few minutes and then dies, the spark arrestor may be clogged with soot. This will prevent the pressure washer from sparking and the machine will fail to run. You may also have a clogged carburetor and it will need to be either cleaned or replaced. If you have any questions, please let us know. We look forward to hearing from you!

Hello Jeff, Thank you for your inquiry. We have researched the model number you have provided and we would recommend checking the thermal relief valve, the water outlet kit, the o-rings, and the check valves. Good luck with your repair.

motor runs, but has no load. water comes from wand, but no pressure. got it from a friend who was scrapping it, so i have no history on it. i have not torn into it, but i'm thinking the key is broken, or the unloader is stuck, or the thermal valve is gone.thanks
robert for model number 020337 rev 02 asked on 2022-08-31
Hello Robert, Thank you for your inquiry. Researching the model number you have provided, the thermal relief valve is the most common cause of this issue. Jon for model number 580752080 asked on 2022-08-18
Hello Jon, thank you for your question. Please ensure the end of the hose stays submerged in the soap container. The issue may be at the end of the Hose 189971GS also. Power washer motor would start up just fine but the pump did not create pressure

Tried the simple part changes first as suggested by E-replacement parts
after doing all the simple part changes, the washer still didn't have pressure.

Following the directions on the videos at e- replacement parts
I then took the pump off the washer.
    Dissembled the pump, cleaned everything
Changed a few o-rings.. Use o ring grease
Reassembled the pump and attached it to the base of the pressure washer.
    Works like new now.
I'll be looking for broken pressure washers at garage sales. Now that I know how to fix them it will take half the time.
Some things to look for before disassembly.
    1. Debris in the water inlet, especially if you don't have a screen, get one.
    2. Debris in the valves after disassembly
    3. Take note and mark with a sharpy the direction of how to reattach the pump to the base. On mine, theirs only one way it will go, but you also have to get the key lined up when inserting the drive shaft. This will save some time and frustration.
    4. Take everything apart and lay everything out on a clean rag in order for reassembly

Good luck, this was a relatively easy project.

The first step was to find the parts manual to my Troy Bilt power washer 3000.
(This was no easy task as there are several versions to older model)
Next was to identify the name of the part that looked broken
I am an 80 year old female that had no trouble following the instructions.
Ereplacementparts customer service people were wonderful in helping each step of the process. THANK YOU
