This is a specially designed replacement switch made for Metabo angle grinders. Switches are one of the most commonly replaced items in power tools. They play important role in handling on/off operations of a tool. Because they have mechanical internals, they will eventually break down requiring replacement. This switch has a plastic body and it is sold individually. Please note the electronic control unit is sold separately.
To complete this repair you would need a screwdriver.
• First make sure the unit is not plugged in
• Then you want to separate housing pieces by removing screws
• Disconnect wires from the old switch
• Replace old switch with a new one
• Reconnect wires
• Reassemble and test the grinder

Switch failed and shaft lock button needed replacemnt. It fell off and was lost, so couldn't be put back on.

, torx bit #20 and #25, needle nose plyers
The tool housing is easily dismantled. Switch part is a simple plug in part with stab in electrical wire connections. I replaced the brushes as a preemptive measure. Pop the old ones out and pop the new ones in. Needle nose pliers are helpful.

Remove the lower housing of the grinder
Make a wiring diagram
Disconnect the wires from the old switch
Connect the wires to the new switch
Disconnect the old brushes and remove from brush holders
Connect the new brushes and place in the brush holders
Install the lower housing
Make a wiring diagram
Disconnect the wires from the old switch
Connect the wires to the new switch
Disconnect the old brushes and remove from brush holders
Connect the new brushes and place in the brush holders
Install the lower housing

Removed the lower housing of the grinder. Made a wiring diagram of the switch and electronic unit. Disconnected old switch and electronic unit. By referring to the wiring diagram I reconnected the new switch and electronic unit .Replaced the lower housing. Then tested the grinder. Worked great.
