This is a very simple fix that took about a minute or less to perform. Pinch the "Retainer Clip" together and pull straight out. Replace with the new clip, attach spool and get trimming.

** If the Retainer Clip shears off in the drive shaft, use a small standard (Flat Head) screw driver and work the clip out from one side. Once enough of the clip is exposed, use a pair of needle nosed pliers and remove the clip. Replace it with a new one and get back to work!

    1. Looked up the part on your internet page to see how the spring fit into the shaft coupler.
    2. Pried old retaining ears on the clip out of their grooves with two really small screwdrivers and pulled out the clip with needle nose pliers.
    3. After seeing I could get the old part out and replace the broken clip I went to your site and ordered a new one.
    4. The part came in the mail after only a couple days. Service was fast.
    5. Put the new part in the shaft coupler and snapped it into place.
    6. Put the spool of the string back on the trimmer and resumed trimming.
    7. Easy, fast and cheap repair.
