Replacing the spark plug would be 15 minutes at most if generator was out in open, but this unit is built under a converted (to RV) bus and getting to it meant removing a lot of sheet metal and other parts - then replacing same. Required working for the most part with one hand. Other modifications were made to engine to remove remote choke assembly and some other unneeded parts. Not a problem since long ago I was an aircraft mechanic.

HU5000 generator would not start. Tested all components in ignition circuit (all good) but no spark! Removed heat shield assembly to inspect the magneto and found that a friendly neighborhood field mouse had tried to make a home between the flywheel and magneto so tightly that, even though the pull starter would turn the crank shaft the magneto could not produce a spark,

The simple spark plug tester showed the we had no spark and started the the disassembly. A new spark plug, compressed air hose and thorough cleaning and after reassembly the generator started on the first pull!
