Carb float valve had rubber seat that needed replacement, carb corroded from rain water

    Robert - January 9, 2016

    Tool Type

    Snowblower

    Difficulty

    Easy

    Time

    1-2 hours

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, Socket set, Wrench Set, thread chaser, #50 drill bit, carb cleaner, wire

Remove carb from engine, remove nut from bottom center of bowl. Clean inside of bowl. In this case water had corroded float pivot pin so extra care required to tap it out. Used a thread gauge to gently clean the threads in the center of the carburetor casting where the bowl nut threads in. The drillings in the carburetor casting also had corrosion in them, cleaned with the small drill, wire, and carb cleaner. No mixture screw on this carb, float level and fixed orifices control the mix. The rubber seat for the float was pressed in to a drilling about 3/4 deep, good use for a transfer punch to keep it square to the hole while pressing it in.

Put it all back together, started right up. Hope I never have to use it, hate snow.
