    1 Removed old starter housing which contained the pulley and cord assembly
    2 Ordered the new housing with pulley/cord assembly
    3 Used the (5) original screws to secure the new part, ensuring that the new starter wheel engaged the drive shaft assembly properly
    Extremely easy, took less than 10 minutes

    Buy the recoil ensamble ryobi ry253ss, it was easy.
    15 min. Repair.
    Just take 4 screw that hold the rear housing and put the new rear housing and starter ensamble.

    I remember the rear housing and tried to repair the spring myself. After three failed attempts I then had the idea to search and see if I could buy the whole rear housing. Thanks to ereplacementparts.com I was able to find it.
