Bought this to take the place of the old one that is still being used, the existing one is just about on it’s last leg so I will have the new one ready as a backup.

The right part at the right time.
As far as I could tell this was the same part I took off. My spring had broken (shame you cant buy just the spring but this was easier) and this replacement part works flawlessly. Shipped fast and I got it ahead of the scheduled delivery date even with Covid issues abounding.

Questions & Answers for Rear-starter Asm

Easy installation of parts but rope still won't retract after installation. What could cause this??
Sv for model number Troybuilt tb80 EC asked on 2022-03-06
Hello Sv, thank for your inquiry. There may be an easy fix for this issue. Remove the screws holding on the front that holds the recoil. There should be a round plastic the has a grove in it. Simply use a pointed tool to pick up the cord from the inside and thread it on the grove. Turn the recoil manually until it picks up the slack in the cord. Good luck with your repair.

    1. Normally, I would have searched thru my old parts and tried to adapt something.
    2. Finding the replacement part on this web site was quick and simple. I really noticed the lack of popups. The web site was so clear I was confident that I had the right part. I also noticed that the price was really good. Also, the parts search setup insured that I was using the right information to get the right part.
    3. I really liked getting emails that gave updates on my order. They have the best tracking system that I have seen.
    4. Everything I needed was in the package and the part was installed in less than 15 minutes.
    5. I am a construction engineer with 40 years of experience. I really appreciate a web site that is focused and efficient.
