Description:
This replacement push rod is specially designed for use on Briggs and Stratton engines. It is an authentic part supplied directly from original equipment manufacturer. The push rod is connected to the camshaft to push the exhaust valve open during the exhaust stroke. A bent rod can not only affect your engine's performance, it can seriously damage other parts if the problem is not taken care of immediately. Please note, this assembly includes the (1) push rod and (1) tappet valve.

Removed valve cover and removed rocker.

Replaced push rod. I did not replace the tappet due to not wanting to remove the head

Push rods bent and broken
Remove tapped cover
Loosen tappet adjusting nut
Remove damaged push rods
Reinstall new push rods
Remove spark plug and set piston at 1/4" past top dead center on exhaust stroke
Tighten push rod adjusting nut to set free play gap specified by manufacturer
Pull engine over and reset piston position and check and or reset free play
Replace tappet cover and gasket if necessary

Tools Used:
Socket set, Wrench Set, Feeler gauges and Torx bits
Bent push-rod.
Removed the valve cover then the rocker arm to check it. Removed the push rod and put in the new one along with the new adjuster nut. Brought the engine to top dead center and adjusted the valve lash to 5mm. Replaced the valve cover.
