This is a genuine item that is supplied by the original equipment manufacturer for use with Penn fishing reels. By setting the tension on the drag washer, it will either allow the drag on your reel to loosen up or you can tighten it. Note, it is an identical replacement for a missing or a faulty hardware that was installed on a new unit. I used the detailed exploded parts diagram of the reel from the site to see see how the parts are correctly stacked in the reel. I simply reassembled the parts as shown in the diagram and the drag worked. Just that easy, just that quick.

If they aren\'t aligned the spool will not seat all the way and the drag knob on top of the spool will not thread on. All in all I would say the repair went very easy.
