Drag Knob 1183837

It was an interesting purchase in that from the schematic I was able to easily ID the piece and order it. However when I received it the part that attached the knob to the reel was completely different. The replacement had a circular nut while the part of the reel looked like it needed a hexagon for a nut. I called eReplacement customer service and I believe it was Betsy couldn't have been more polite and helpful. We checked the diagrams again, she looked for a solution and then emailed me the return postage info. I called Penn directly and what a difference between their customer service and Betsy. The first gut told me to ship them the entire reel and they'd look at it but no guarantee. The second person referred me to an engineer who also had no clue. On the chance that something could be rigged so I could use the part I brought it to a bait shop. Showed it to the guy, he took out a pair of pliers removed the hexagon nut and screwed the knob on. Turned out the hexagon nut was part of the knob. I got my reel, eReplacement got a new customer and all ended well. Thanks for your quick shipping of the part and the great customer service. Exact part I needed.

The drag knob that I purchased did not work with the Penn6500SS reel that it was cross referenced to. It was acknowledged that the original part was no longer available but I was led to believe the part shipped to me would work. It does not and I need to return it. The service and process worked well but the most important part, the product, failed.
