This muffler assembly is an OEM direct from Dynabrade. The plastic cap and insert are made for use with many random orbital sanders. Fitted inside the vacuum adapter, this part minimizes the sander noise. A pair of pliers or an adjustable wrench may be helpful for the removal and replacement. Please keep in mind, the muffler assembly is sold individually.

Removed the muffler
Carefully unscrewed the air motor lock ring
With some persuasion in the vice the motor came out of the plastic housing, gentle in the vice.
Lots of cleaning and wiping out the cavity with acetone.
Grease in all the seals.
Assemble
works perfect. totally worth buying the "drop in motor"

Remove the two old mufflers
Unscrew the old muffler body
Install new ones in reverse order
