This 3-coil heating element, enclosed in a 5-inch diameter housing, generates the heat necessary for the drying cycle. Operating at 5500w, it measures 12-3/4 inches in length, 5/8 inches in width, and 3/8 inches in height. If there is no heat or it is taking too long to dry, you may need to replace the heating element. Check for a blown thermal fuse or test it with a multimeter. Your dryer may also display an error code. To replace the existing heating element, all you need are a Phillips screwdriver, a flathead screwdriver, and a number two square bit. Start by removing the main top, then detach the control panel brackets, release the wire connector, and lift the front panel. Disconnect the drum light and user control board wire connectors, and remove components as needed to access the front panel. Detach the control board support bracket from the front bulkhead. To reach the heating element housing, take off the drum and unscrew it from the heat duct and base. Remove the high-limit thermostat and thermal fuse from the housing, so you can install them onto the new housing. Finally, reassemble your dryer by following the steps in reverse. This genuine OEM part is sold separately from the high-limit thermostat and thermal fuse.
