  • Easy repair
It was easy enough once you realize there is a set screw on the bottom that loosens up the parts

    Perfect replacement
Read an earlier review that said don't try to straighten a bent depth guide. So true! This part isn't real expensive, arrived in a couple of days, and it only took a few minutes to swap out the old depth guard which got bent when I knocked the saw off onto a cement floor :-(
    Steven - May 11, 2020 Verified Purchase
    Easy replacement of old part.
With just a few tools I replaced the bent guide with the new one and my saw was back to original. Cuts straight and square again.

Dropped my Makita Circular Saw 5007MGA and bent the depth guide

    Merle - June 10, 2018
👍 2 of 2 people found this instruction helpful
    Tool Type

    Circular Saw

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    15-30 minutes

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, Socket set, Hex socket set, M5X8

    1. Want to ereplacementparts.com and looked at the nomenclature and printed it to include a full picture and listing of the parts.
    2. Removed the blade
    3. Remove the Rubber Sleeve so the Safety Cover can be moved and you can free up and remove the Cap Square Neck bolt M8X90. You'll need a Hex to remove a screw holding Depth Guide to the Base Complete.
    4. Pull out the Cap Square Neck Bolt, observing how this all fits together. If you have a phone, maybe take a picture. If not, line it up so you have the parts in the right order.
    5. Repeat in reverse order.

A word of wisdom...if you have this problem...don't try and straighten the depth guide. It only costs a few bucks and trying to straighten it will only drive you mad!
