It is a genuine OEM item that is designed for use with Kirby vacuums. Brushes are responsible for transferring power to the motor's armature. Because they remain in constant contact with the spinning armature, the carbon motor brushes will eventually erode and will require replacement. Make sure to refer to the owner's manual and the appropriate diagrams for your model for the correct repair procedure. One durable carbon brush with an attached spring and a lead wire is included. A screwdriver will be needed to take out the old brush and secure the new one.

Removed the screws from the housing. Removed the brush caps. Removed the worn brushes. Installed the new brushes, caps and the housing.

Four screws removed housing. Then I pulled brushes out and put new ones in and put housing back together turned machine on.

Noise in bearings .

Opened up machine as per your instructions changed brushes very simple to do. Opened bearing caps and tried to grease them. The bearings were original and weren’t worth greasing so I installed the new ones. Reassembled the machine everything works great no more bearing noise.

1. disconnect power cord..
2. remove handle from vacuum (remove pin wich keeps the handle in place.
3. disasemble vacuum housing (remove 4 screws around base).
4. pull housing out.
5. remove plastic brush caps (2).
6. push on copper keepers, careful this releases the spring tension on springs
7. remove springs with brushes.
8. reinstall new set of springs.
9.finish by reinstalling all parts in reverse order when you started.
