Using allen wrench, opened back end of gun. Found collar in crumbling condition from age and made assumption that this was the problem. Looked up part on ereplacements internet. Ordered collar from ereplacement parts and installed in 20 minutes upon arrival. Make sure you find all the pieces of the old collar. Gun now performs as when new twelve years ago. Part and postage less than $15.
Made mistake of taking nail cartridge from gun which was not necessary. Had a little problem getting it back in place.

Took the 4 allen wrench bolts off the top and removed the broken collar and loose pieces, and put new collar in!
I am a former builder with 35 plus years experience and have learned that nail gun are simple tool to fix rather than replace. I am now totally disabled, but, I still love to piddle with small projects.

Used allen wrench to remove 4 screws that was holding down the top cap of the nailer from the body of the nailer and removed the head. Once removed the old collar was visible and was broken in two places. Removed old collar, and plastic collar parts that had broken off and inserted the new collar in it's place. Place the top back on the nailer, tightened the allen screws and then tested the nailer. The nailer worked perfectly. Very easy repair.

Removed 4 Allen head bolt from top cover of nailer
Take note of which way collar is facing. One edge is flat the other edge is rounded
Removed old collar
Cleaned out nailer housing of pieces broke off of old collar
Installed new collar
Reinstalled top cover of nailer
