Product Description ?

This is a high quality OEM supplied replacement tire that is specially made for use with Jet band saws. It is secured over the wheel to provide traction for the blade. Over time tires tend to stretch and deteriorate eventually breaking and requiring replacement. Band saw tires will typically come approximately two or more inches smaller than the tire you are replacing. You would need to put the new tire in warm water to heat the tire enough to make it pliable enough to stretch. It is advised to use two people in the stretching process. Please note one durable rubber band saw tire is included per order.

    Tools Used

    , 1/2 inch wooden dowel

    1. removed the wheel from the bandsaw using a crescent wrench.
    2. placed the new band in boiling water for 5 minutes
    3. removed the band with tongs and gloves.
    4. placed band on bottom of wheel, use the ground to hold it in place
    5. dead lifted the band over the wheel using two hands
6 use the wooden dowel to "persuade" the rest of the band over the wheel.
7 can be done with one person. two people makes it a little easier
8 replace both bands because the other band will surely break shortly after you replace one.

Removed old rubber tires from band saw wheels and cleaned band saw and wheels. Set up two 1/2" iron pipes in my bench vise to hold band saw wheel. Placed new tires in hot water 5 minutes to soften them. With 2 people, 1 held tire in place, the other forced tire on rim using pry-bar.

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    15-30 minutes

    Tools Used

    Screwdriver, Heat gun, pry bars

Urethane tires don't require adhesive because they are so tight on the wheel, but are difficult to stretch enough to get on. I used a head gun on the tire to soften it enough and used clamps and pry bars to get it on the wheel. Another thing you could do is to place the tire in the hot water for a few minutes to soften it enough to stretch.

I replaced both band saw tires

    Paul - August 28, 2018
    Tool Type

    Band Saw

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    30-60 minutes

    Tools Used

    Screwdriver, Wrench Set, Flat bar

Removed both the upper and lower wheels. Scraped and cleaned both wheels and then mounted new tires. I found clamping the wheels into my large vice helped as I stretched the tires onto the wheels. Because the tires are friction adhered, they fit tight and I used a flat bar to pry to stretch the tires onto the wheel. An extra set of hands would be helpful if you don't have a large vice. The tires fit perfectly. Care is needed to realign the top wheel once the blade is re-installed. I turned the wheels by hand to make sure the blade was tracking before plugging the machine in. Works great.

The band saw rubber tire which the saw blade runs on had dried out and cracked.

    Time

    Tools Used

    Screwdriver, Socket set, Zip ties

You have to release the tension on the band saw blade, remove the large bolt the holds on the band saw wheel. Once removed clean the wheel. Take the new rubber tire, soak it in very hot water for 15 minutes. Remove from the water and stretch it over the wheel using the zip ties to hold it on one side as you stretch the other portion over the top half of the wheel. You will need the screw driver to help get it in to the wheel. If u got a friend have him help you it will go quicker.
