Screwdriver, monofilament line
A small plastic part within the spring mechanism was broken
Disassembled the bail guide to expose the broken part
Removed the broken part
Unpackaged the new part
Tied monofilament to the spring and taped the mono to the table. Why you ask? To put the bail back together you have to compress the spring. They ALWAYS shoot across the room and can get lost.
Snipped the mono and reassembled everything and tightened the phillips screws
The reel was fixed for a small cost and will serve me for many years

Bail arm guide was missing.
Used #1 phillips screwdriver to remove the rotor cover. Used the same screwdriver to gently pry out the bail spring. Loosen the bail arm screw one to two turns, just enough to allow the new bail arm guide to slip into the hole in the bail arm. Once I was sure the new arm guide was in the hole, I slipped the spring onto the guide and compressed it enough to fit it back into its groove in rotor assembly. Without moving anything which might put pressure on the exposed parts, put the rotor cover back into place and screw it down tight. (Note: If there is no grease on the parts under the rotor cover or it is black or gritty, completely remove the bail arm screw to allow you to clean everything and apply good grease before putting the new arm guide in place.)

The part sent to me was dimensionally too big.
I ended up taking my reel to a local fishing tackle shop. They had to modify the part with a file in order to make the repair. There were no instructions included with the part. Luckily the guys at the tackle shop had done this repair before were able get my reel back together and working.

Question: Bail Arm Guid Installation
1716454 ÐÝ
I have looked at the schematics for this part's reel and I don't quite understand how to put the bail arm guide in. Does the tapered end slide into the top of the spring and then the "male end" goes into the bail arm? I am pretty sure my arm guide went flying across the river when I unscrewed the bail arm.
