My existing alternator has a resistance reading of 2.253Mohms.. Trying to determine if this is correct or new alternator required. Battery gets drained immediately but starter spins flywheel until battery drained

Hello Fred, thank you for asking. Yes, this is the correct Alternator 592831 for your model. A typical Alternator should read around 4 Ohms or higher. A reading of less than 2.9 Ohms would indicate a failed alternator. We are pleased to have been able to help.

which alternator do I need, my book calls for 393456. Has that changed?

Stator ring was shorted

Pulled the mag with gear puller, replaced stator ring

Alternator was destroyed, magnets on flywheel became unattached

Removed shroud
Secured flywheel, removed flywheel fastners
Used a gear puller to remove flywheel
Removed damaged alternator
Replaced and reassembled

alternator shorted out

removed engine cover , removed fan, removed flywheel, removed alternator. then replaced with new alternator. then put engine back together.
