This is an original part from Shindaiwa for use with Trimmers and Brush Cutters. The gear case assembly contains the gears that turn the line spool for cutting. The most common reasons for replacing the gear case assembly is if the trimmer head not spinning (while the shaft is spinning), or there is grinding noise coming from trimmer head. This part is sold individually. The tools that you will need to replace the gear case assembly is a small screwdriver or hex wrench, Phillip’s screwdriver, and a Socket/Ratchet set (or wrench set).

Had to replace the gear case assembly. The gears went bad causing the trimmer head to stop turning. Once I got the gear assembly replace and the trimmer head put back its back to new and working great.

Removed old gear case, disassembled and determined multiple worn parts (lower bearing seized). Ordered replacement gear case assembly. Received part, within a half hour, back trimming grass.
