On/off switch inoperative

Jay - February 10, 2022
Tool Type

Paint Sprayer

Difficulty

Medium

Time

30-60 minutes

Tools Used

Screwdriver, 2 Wire nuts and a wire stripper

This is not a paint sprayer, it's a chemical sprayer. It is not designed to spray paint!

Remove top half of sprayer from the tank.using the 2 clips as you normally would.
Put the tank aside.
Open up the pump assembly by removing the 8 or so screws.
Split the pump assembly vertically by removing screws so you can remove switch.
Cut the 2 wires that go from the switch to the pump and battery terminal. Strip them exposing the same amount of copper wiring that you see on the pre-stripped harness wires.
Join the harness wires to the battery terminal and the pump wires. Do NOT twist the copper wires- only straighten the wires. The nuts do the twisting! Twist them until the insulated portion of the wire starts to also twist.
Wrap electrical tape around each nut and the insulated portion of each wire so as to "water" proof the electrical connection.
Insert the new switch. Make sure the battery terminal is placed properly- then carefully put the 2 halves of the pump assembly together and insert and tighten its screws.
Install a battery and quickly test the pump but don't run the pump too long while its dry- just a quick on/off.
Re-install the pump cover and insert and tighten screws.
