sanding belt would not track true (Ryobi model 9910) belt sander

Screwdriver, punch & hammer-snap ring pliers

Removed and replaced tension roller. Then I carefully cut off rubber sleeve, then I slightly heated new sleeve with a heat gun to soften it, worked sleeve onto drive spindle. Also I blow out the dust and inspected the inside of sander.

Carbon brushes had worn out. I have had this Makita for 15 years. I was easy to install by taking the screws on one side out, take the two screws for the brushes out and install the new ones.

Belt sander rollers were torn and walked the belt off the end

Relatively easy, had to remove 3 screws and slide the unit out. the snap ring pliers were used to allow the shaft to slide out to replace the drive roller out to be replaced, reassembled and it worked perfectly.

Sanding belt was slipping

Remove the snap ring from the shaft in the front roller.
Remove the shaft and roller.
Place the new front roller in the roller arm, then insert the shaft into the roller arm and front roller and attach the snap ring.
Remove the old rubber sleeve from the rear roller and then press the new sleeve on the roller.

Tension roller jammed into case

Separated the case and removed the sanding belt which had attached itself to the plastic housing (housing melted around the belt). I then removed the snap ring securing the tension roller and removed the roller. Replaced in reverse. After the belt tracking was adjusted the sander worked as new.
